With all the hubbub and publicity “The Collection” has received this past week, there is a cultural resource that benefits our RiverPark community that also deserves our attention and our immediate support.
The Oxnard Community Concert Association (OCCA) has served Oxnard since 1940 by providing quality entertainment to our community at an extremely affordable price. The 2012-2013 Season is the OCCA’s 67th, and may possibly be one of its last if it doesn’t attract new membership. This season’s OCCA lineup will feature the following artists:
The OCCA also operates a Student Outreach Program that donates musical instruments to local schools throughout Ventura County. Over the past year Haydock Jr. High, Fremont Jr. High, E.O. Green Jr. High and Frank Jr. High have received donated instruments from OCCA. The Student Outreach Program has provided 115 instruments to 7 Ventura County school districts and 16 schools since the program was originated in January of 2007.
The OCCA deserves the support and help of our great RiverPark community. It doesn’t cost that much to help. If you’re short of money, they could use your help as a volunteer. Click on this LINK for more information on OCCA, its upcoming shows and how you can help.
